Health and Safety Audits are an implicit requirement of health and safety law. The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require all organisations with 5 or more employees to have documented arrangements for the:
- Planning
- Organisation
- Control
- Monitoring and
- Review
of health and safety measures. Audits are a key management tool, and fulfil the requirement for monitoring and review of health and safety arrangements. Audits are also an important tool within a health and safety management system – whether the system used is based on HS(G)65, OHSAS18001, BS8800 or the ILO Health & Safety Management System model (all of these are different models for managing health and safety, but all based on the same principles of PLAN – DO – CHECK – ACT).
Phoenix Health and Safety can assist with all of your health and safety audit requirements – whether it is an initial health check of a new business, a gap analysis of an existing business to to determine where they are, or an external check on the systems implemented by an internal health and safety practitioner or professional.
