NEBOSH Courses – Distance Learning or Elearning?
The traditional approach to offering NEBOSH courses for delegates that cant attend a classroom based course has been by distance learning. In the early days, this took the form of textbooks and written materials, backed up by telephone/email support. More recently, with the advent of e-learning, health and safety training providers have moved toward e-learning or web-based online training. This is all very well, and sounds highly impressive. However, what is often forgotten is that NEBOSH exams cannot be taken online – they require hours and hours of hand written exams. Therefore, studying online and completing assignments online is all well and good, but is poor preparation for the rigours and pressures of a NEBOSH exam.
Phoenix Health and Safety have developed NEBOSH distance learning programmes that take the traditional distance learning methods and bring them into 2010. For people that prefer traditional methods, then they can use textbooks, printed learning materials and call an expert, approachable tutor whenever they get stuck. For people who prefer more modern methods, then there are a whole array of additional support methods online including web links to further reading, Facebook pages, a YouTube channel, video clips, presentations, podcasts. Skype surgeries and much, much more.
The intention is that the study programme is entirely flexible. YOU choose the way YOU want to study. Whatever methods you choose, you will do written assignments and get individual feedback on your practice exam attempts – this is the ONLY way to prepare for the demands of written NEBOSH exams.
