NEBOSHThe NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate is aimed at supervisors, safety representatives, managers and newly qualified health and safety advisors who are operating within the oil and gas industries. It builds on the knowledge acquired while studying a NEBOSH National or International Certificate.

Study Method and Duration

We offer this course via our distance learning platform and it takes a recommended 54 hours of study time. While completing the course, you will be provided with access to an online virtual learning environment complete with study, revision and exam advice, as well as links to relevant material and a study planner. In addition, you will have access to a Facebook group set up specifically for Phoenix distance learners where you can discuss any aspect of your course with tutors and fellow students.

Throughout your studies, you will benefit from telephone and email support provided by experts within the oil and gas industry. You will also receive a textbook containing all the relevant information.

You can enrol at any time and, because of the flexibility afforded by distance learning, you can study in your own time and at your own pace.

Programme

IOG1 – Management of International Oil and Gas Health and Safety:

  • Element 1: Health, safety and environmental management in context
  • Element 2: Hydrocarbon process safety 1
  • Element 3: Hydrocarbon process safety 2
  • Element 4: Fire protection and emergency response
  • Element 5: Logistics and transport operations

Certification

The certificate is accredited by the  Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) as a NOS-based qualification for delivery across the UK and internationally. It is intended to be rated at Level 6 in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework, which is comparable to the standard of the NEBOSH National General Certificate.

For candidates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, this is broadly comparable to a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) at Level 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework.

Candidates are assessed by written examination and exam venues are available in:

  • London
  • Manchester
  • British Councils in other countries

Fees

All fees are payable in advance. Course materials will not be sent until payment is received. Fees quoted are correct at time of publication, but Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to alter fees at any time.

Cancellations following a confirmed booking will be charged a £30 administration fee. Once materials are sent, refunds cannot be offered.

Guaranteed Pass

Phoenix Health & Safety offer a guaranteed pass on all distance learning courses. This means that candidates are entitled to continue studying (free of charge) if they fail to meet the required standard in the examinations. If applicable, the delegate will be required to pay the exam fees for any re-sits.

The guaranteed pass only applies if the following criteria are met:

  • The candidate is accepted onto the course by Phoenix Health & Safety
  • The candidate takes a full and active part in the course, and completes any tasks/projects set
  • The candidate meets the required standard in all tutor – marked assessments.
