Assessment and certification

When studying the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction you are required to complete a written examination at the end of each unit and then a practical assessment (NCC2). The latter is carried out at your place of work, to demonstrate that you can apply what you have learnt during the course to a real workplace.

On successful completion of both units and the practical assessment, a NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety will be awarded. This is sent by post and usually arrives within 8-10 weeks after the results are published by Phoenix.

If you fail one of the written exams or the practical assessment, a re-sit can be arranged at an added cost (more information is provided under the ‘course fees’ section).

After completing this course, you will be eligible for Technician Membership of The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), as well as associate membership of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

Marianne, Health and Safety Manager, NEBOSH National General Construction Certificate (Conversion):

“I had a great experience with Phoenix whilst studying for my NEBOSH Construction Conversion Certificate. Every element of the course from booking, delivery of the training through to the final examination was to a high standard and well organised.

NEBOSH training requires hard work and determination, but having a supportive, enthusiastic tutor made all the difference. The NEBOSH Construction Conversion course was intense at times with a lot of information to try and learn and retain in a short space of time, but the Phoenix tutor did a great job at keeping me engaged and focused over the full course. The course materials were of a very high standard, and we were also given additional online resources including study plans, brain maps and past examination papers.

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate was hard work, but I enjoyed the course and was delighted to successfully complete it with a distinction.

As a Health and Safety Manager and a member of IOSH, every new qualification helps with progressing my CPD as I work towards chartered membership.”

Peter, Senior Information Officer, NEBOSH National General Construction Certificate:

“I studied the NEBOSH Construction Certificate via classroom learning, and it was a fantastic experience. I would recommend the classroom learning option, as the NEBOSH course tutor is fantastic and being able to ask questions face-to-face meant that the course content was easier to relate to and understand. I am pleased to say that I got a distinction in my exams and I can honestly say it would have been so much harder without the support and assistance of Phoenix Health and Safety.

This NEBOSH qualification allows me to continue my accreditation path and demonstrate my commitment to health and safety to my customers. The NEBOSH Construction course has really inspired me to go further in H&S and I’m now looking at studying the NEBOSH National Diploma with Phoenix.”
