This qualification is suitable for General Managers, Supervisors, HR Managers, and Safety Professionals, who have responsibility for, or involvement in, the health and well-being of employees as part of their day-to-day duties.

Study Method & Duration

The NEBOSH Health and Well-Being Certificate is studied via distance learning. You will be provided with a textbook that contains all relevant material for the course, a study guide, tutor support details and a study timetable.

Support is offered by expert health and safety tutors, whom you can contact by telephone or email. You will also have access to the Facebook group specifically for Phoenix distance learning students, where you can discuss any aspects of your studies with tutors and other students.

NHC1 - Managing Health and Well-being in the workplace

Unit 2 - Health and Well-being Practical Application

The Practical assessment is carried out in the candidate's own workplace. The practical must be completed within 14 days of the ICC1 written examination.


Candidates are assessed with one written and one practical examination. Candidates need to pass both units within a two-year period. A unit certificate is issued denoting succcessful achievement of each unit. A certificate award parchment is issued on completetion of the two units.

For candidates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, this is broadly comparable to a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) at Level 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), comparable to A-Level standard.

For Candidates in Scotland, this qualification has been accredited at level 6 with 7 credit points in the Scottish credit and qualification framework (SCQF).
