Assessment and certification

The NEBOSH Oil and Gas training course is assessed by a two-hour written exam.

The certificate is accredited by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) as a NOS-based qualification for delivery across the UK and internationally. It is intended to be rated at Level 6 in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework, which is comparable to the standard of the NEBOSH National General Certificate.

For candidates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, this is broadly comparable to a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) at Level 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework.

There are no formal requirements for the NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate; however, we do recommend that candidates first complete the NEBOSH International or National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent level 3 certificate.
