What is the NEBOSH National Diploma?

The NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals is one of the most highly valued degree-level qualifications for health and safety professionals in the world, considered the gold standard among these qualifications.

It is the highest-level training NEBOSH offers and as such is a mark of expertise and professionalism for the 18,000 who have earned it since it launched in 1980. The qualification teaches in line with UK HSE (Health and Safety Executive) guidance and legislation.

Throughout the NEBOSH National Diploma candidates will cover the practical skills that are essential to occupational health and safety professionals. We assess candidates’ ability to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and teach them how to deliver positive change in the workplace.

The NEBOSH National Diploma course is divided into three units, which can be studied individually, or purchased in full via e-Learning. By studying units individually, students can spread the cost of the NEBOSH Diploma Qualification while working at their own pace towards a globally recognised health and safety qualification.

  • DN3 – Do – controlling workplace safety issues

Upon completion of the NEBOSH National Diploma, candidates will be able to:

  • You will be able to continually develop your own professional skills and ethics to actively influence improvements in health and safety by providing persuasive arguments to workers at all levels.

  • You will be able to develop a health and safety policy strategy within your organisation (including proactive safety, Corporate Social Responsibility and the change management process)

  • You will be able to contribute to health and safety legal actions.

  • You will be able to manage contractors and supply chains to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

  • You will be able to advise the organisation on a range of common workplace health issues/ hazards including how these can be assessed and controlled and the legal duties associated with these issues/hazards.

Each assessment is a substantial undertaking. We anticipate that it will take you around 40 hours to complete the DN1 assignment and 20 hours each for the DN2 and DN3 case studies. The time-period given for you to complete each assessment reflects this:
